Elderly Francisco das Chagas de Souza, 62, was seriously injured on Monday night (11) after being run over while trying to cross Copaíba Street, in the Novo Horizonte neighborhood, in the upper part of Rio Branco.

According to witnesses, Francisco was drinking in a bar and, when he left and tried to cross the street, he was hit by a silver Triton pickup truck that was traveling from the city center to the neighborhood. During the accident, the vehicle dragged the victim for several meters, as shown in a video sent to our newsroom. The driver remained at the scene after the accident.

As a result of the impact, Francisco suffered a fractured rib, broke the finger on his left hand and had multiple bruises on his body.

The Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) was called, and a basic ambulance was sent to the scene. Paramedics provided first aid and took the elderly man to the emergency room in Rio Branco in serious condition.
