A man has been shot on Independence Square outside the KFC restaurant.

The incident occured about half an hour ago.

He has been taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

Police are currently on the scene. The incident also left another person injured. However, Officers at the Las Lomas Police Station told CNews due to the sensitive nature of the incident they were not at liberty to divulge any information.

We were instead directed to the Chaguanas Police Station, where the officer in charge was also tight-lipped about the incident. CNews understands that the shooting occurred around 10:30pm on Saturday.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that a gunman entered the outlet and targeted the victim standing in line. The victim, believed to be from Maloney, was shot in the face.

The other person is said to have been injured by a stray bullet.
