The man fatally shot by out-of-town officers near the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Tuesday has been identified. The sister of Samuel Sharpe Junior, 43, told CNN her brother lived in a tent across the street from where the shooting happened. She added that her brother told her some men were threatening to kill him and his dog."I saw the bodycam video. If they were concerned about him having a knife, then tase the guy and take away the knife and figure out what’s happening," Angelique Sharpe told CNN. "When you’re in a physical altercation and you’re fighting for your life, you’re in that moment. They didn’t even give my brother time to react to their commands."Hours after the shooting, Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman told reporters that 13 uniformed police officers with the Columbus Police Department saw an armed man with knives in his hands.Columbus Police released body camera video of the deadly shooting. The video is graphic and takes about twenty seconds from officers hearing about a knife fight to pulling the trigger. The group of police officers, assigned to bicycle patrol, were meeting with a supervisor at 14th and Vilet Street when Sharpe "engaged in an altercation with another unarmed individual."The area is also near a homeless encampment.Norman said the Columbus police officers identified themselves, commanding the armed man to "drop the knife.""The subject refused these commands and charged at the other individual with the knives. At this time, several officers discharged their firearms, subsequently striking the suspect," said Norman.
