The victim was transferred in a boat so that she can be treated on Baltra Island, in the Itabaca channel.

A video of the incident shows a group of foreigners pulling the woman out of the boat with one of her legs bandaged.

The woman was transferred in a van to receive medical attention.

From preliminary information it is known that the woman is a visitor who had taken a daily tour. The incident would have occurred near the Mosquera islet.

Boris Daza, director of the Republic of Ecuador hospital, told Radio Encantada that the tourist arrived conscious, despite the magnitude of the injury. It was an extensive wound, the doctor said.

The woman was taken to the surgical center to treat the injuries.
