AMMAN — Details on the tragic accident that unfolded in the Aqaba Tunnel emerged after a video circulated on social media, revealing a truck driver crashing into several vehicles.

The incident resulted in one fatality and 13 injuries.

The footage, which was widely circulated, depicts a truck driver colliding with multiple vehicles within the tunnel's confines.

The camera angle showcased both the driver's face and the road ahead.

During the video, people inside the tunnel can be seen celebrating something before being hit. The collision between the truck and the vehicles led to a chain reaction of crashes, causing significant damage.

Driver's speed and distress evident

The video revealed that the truck driver was traveling at a speed ranging between 30–60km/h, as indicated on the truck's speed monitor.

The sound of the driver's distressing screams can be heard just moments before impact.

Following the incident, authorities have launched an investigation to determine the root causes of the accident.
