The accident occurred yesterday, October 19, at around 5 p.m. on Avtoremontna Street in Lutsk.

This was reported by the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Volyn region.

A 44-year-old driver, a resident of the village of Rozhysche, driving a Mazda car, moving in the direction of Rivnenska Street, did not choose a safe speed, did not brake in time, and drove onto the sidewalk, where he hit two women who were walking in the opposite direction.

After that, the driver hit a concrete fence, drove onto the roadway, and stopped on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the road.

As a result of the accident, the pedestrians, born in 1982 and 1958, residents of the city of Lutsk, died at the scene of the accident from their injuries. A 39-year-old passenger in the car, a resident of the village of Rozhysche, suffered bodily injuries and was hospitalized in the neurosurgery department of the Lutsk City Clinical Hospital.

Doctors diagnosed the driver with alcohol intoxication.
