Sacramento County are investigating a local sheriff’s deputy after he was caught on video beating a man with his flashlight on Tuesday after Tasing him and putting him on the ground, KCRA-TV reported.

“I think [the deputy] should get fired,” said the man who filmed the incident, Michael White. “I think he should go to jail. I don’t think administrative leave is enough.”

White’s footage shows the unidentified deputy putting his foot on 51-year-old John Madison Reyes’ head before striking him in the back with his flashlight. The deputy can also be seen repeatedly hitting Reyes in the legs while Reyes is laying on the ground. The footage also shows the deputy ordering Reyes to turn onto his stomach while his knee is on Reyes’ head.

“I’m trying to get on my stomach,” Reyes can be heard saying. “I’m trying to.”

Reyes was briefly taken into custody and cited for resisting arrest before being released. He told KCRA he approached the deputy because his patrol vehicle was blocking part of an intersection

“He glared at me and stared at me,” Reyes said. “And then, I said an expletive, ‘You need to move the car because I can’t get through.”
