A mom is going viral for confronting a man who was allegedly recording her teenage daughter inside a Target store.

The incident happened at a Target in Rossford, Ohio, this week.

A 16-year-old girl who was shopping at Target with her mom noticed a stranger using his phone to take video of her while she was shopping in the aisles.

She then told her mom, Monica Geisel, about what was happening.

Geisel called the police and quickly confronted the man himself. The daughter then recorded video of her mom confronting the man.

In the video, the man claims he was recording their cart. However, when he showed Geisel what was on his phone, she said she was horrified.

“I see a ton of videos of other people on there, other girls on there, and so that’s when I try to grab his phone and he instantly, you know, like, pushed my arm and like took it, and that’s when he started walking away,” Geisel said. “It’s not that he was just recording people, he’s recording her inappropriately, and he’s zooming in on body parts of her.”

Turns out, the man is a registered sex offender.

When Rossford police showed up, they told Geisel that the man technically did not commit a crime by recording her daughter.

“There’s definitely some concerns there, but unfortunately, that individual wasn’t breaking any laws at the time, and it puts us in kind of a bad spot because we know that there’s probably some ill intent, but there’s nothing that we can do about it lawfully,” said Chief Kitzler.

Shortly after, police pulled the man over for a traffic violation, and they asked him about the incident at Target.

Body camera shows the man dodging questions from police and denying recording the teenager inside Target. He offered police his phone, but claimed he couldn’t open it because he forgot his password.

The man was let go with a traffic warning.
