A man injured in a brazen daytime exchange of gunfire in central Hamilton has been arrested and is under guard in hospital as investigators search for the suspect who shot him.

Police were called to a parking lot near Barton Street East and Oak Avenue around 5:15 p.m. ET on Wednesday after two men shot at each other.

The Hamilton Police Service shared surveillance video on Friday that appears to show a man dressed in black, running out of a car and firing several shots into a parked car with its driver's door open.

As he runs back to the vehicle and drives off, several shots are fired through the windshield of the parked car, the video shows.
