A 64-year-old worker was crushed to death while trying to hold a moving truck.

Eurípedes dos Reis Dionísio had parked the vehicle at Manoel Inocêncio Ferreira Square to pick up some bricks that were on the sidewalk, in front of a construction site. He got out of the truck and told a young man that he was going to pick up the bricks.

Upon returning to the vehicle and opening one of the bodies to receive the load, the truck began to drive on its own. Euripides ran after the vehicle with the intention of applying the brakes. He managed to hang from the cab and open the door, but before he could get inside, the truck violently crashed into a tree trunk, crushing him.

Euripides was left with a sinking in his chest and fell to the ground.

The vehicle continued out of control down the road until it finally collided with a wall.

Euripides was conscious and talked for a few moments, before dying on scene.

It is not yet known if it was due to human error or a mechanical defect.
