Orange County, Florida - A crime spree that started with a home burglary in the Pine Castle area ended in a brief pursuit and crash that left two people injured in the Pine Hills area Wednesday morning. The event lasted only 15 minutes but left the intersection of Colonial Drive and Pine Hills Road closed for several hours. It started about 9:45 a.m. when a Pine Castle resident caught two suspects, 24-year-old Jalil Harvell and 23-year-old Willie Samuel, walking out of his home on Marinell Drive, Orange County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jeff Williamson said. The victim told deputies that one of the suspects pointed a gun at him before speeding off in a black Dodge Charger driven by Harvell. It's not clear if anything was taken from the home. The victim immediately called 911 and the Charger was quickly spotted by a Belle Isle police officer who turned on his patrol lights and followed the suspect. To escape arrest, Harvell got onto Interstate 4 eastbound at Michigan Street. But an OCSO helicopter found the car again as Harvell merged onto State Road 408 westbound.Deputies caught up to the Charger as Harvell was speeding on the toll road onto North Pine Hills Road.As Harvell blew through a red light near the intersection of Pine Hills Road and Colonial Drive, he crashed into a green 1999 Dodge Durango driven by 22-year-old Melissa Valle of Kissimmee about 10 a.m.A passenger in Valle's car was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment. One of the suspects also suffered minor injuries in the crash.According to Williamson, after the crash the men, still determined to escape, tried unsuccessfully to carjack two different people before they were ultimately arrested.Harvell was ticketed for running the red light and both men face addition charges including armed burglary, aggravated assault and attempted carjacking.
