Three Charlottesville residents have been charged in connection with an assault that occurred last month on the Downtown Mall.The Charlottesville Police Department says the incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. Oct. 20 on the 100 block of West Main Street.A dispute over stolen property began at the Haven and several people ran down an alley onto the mall.Responding officers found an adult man with non-life-threatening injuries sitting on the ground and had him taken to the University of Virginia Health System for evaluation.Video of the assault was captured on surveillance camera.Police say 27-year-old Alijah Elese Brown and 41-year-old Timothy Wayne Jason Lee Mawyer are both charged with misdemeanor assault.And 34-year-old Allen Jerome Curry is facing a charge of destruction of property.
