JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Weeks after a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer shot and killed a 45-year-old man standing outside with a gun in his hand, the agency released body cam video Thursday.According to JSO, on Aug. 18, an officer was sitting in a marked patrol car in the parking lot of a stop station off West Beaver Street when Christopher Ford approached the vehicle.The officer stepped out of the car and exchanged a few words with Ford. The nature of the conversation was not provided. According to JSO, Ford pulled out a gun and held it by his side, prompting the officer to pull out his gun.The video captures Ford holding a gun in his right hand and yelling as he walks backward away from the officer. The exchange is unclear because the body cam audio recording begins after the shooting.The video then shows Ford pointing the gun at the officer and starting to shoot. The officer returns fire, and Ford falls to the ground.Additional officers heard the shooting and responded as well.
