The victim, a well-known cattle rancher in the region, was driving a motorcycle on the afternoon of August 7 along a path leading to the Palenquillo district, when he tried to avoid the holes and puddles of water found on the road and passed between a power pole and an electric fence, lost control of the vehicle and fell over the fence.

The contact of the gasoline with the electricity quickly ignited the vehicle that was taking Armando to his destination, burning 'Don Ortiz' to death, as he was known in the area.
