A woman (67) was chased and attacked with sticks by villagers at Onethindi in Iikango on Friday for allegedly being a witch.

The woman was also accused of poisoning customers at her cuca shop.

National police deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said the villagers also burned some belongings stolen from the woman’s shebeen.

“The incident was attended to by the police after they were alerted. They took the victim to Onandjokwe State Hospital,” he says.

The main suspect in the incident has not yet been arrested, says Shikwambi.

However, eight Iikango villagers have been arrested.

“Investigations continue,” says Shikwambi.
