The motorcyclist, who did not have a license, took the motorcycle without the authorization of the person in charge. According to an investigation by the Military Police, witnesses who witnessed the accident and the van driver, the passenger van that was traveling intercity to Igarapé-Açu was picking up passengers at a stop under a footbridge. When the young man immediately hit the rear of the left side of the vehicle, the victim fell and was run over by a semi-trailer that was traveling in the adjacent lane. The van driver and the ticket collector reported feeling the impact on the rear of the vehicle and then saw the truck pass by at speed. When they went out to check, they found the young man lying lifeless on the ground.

There is no information on whether the young man was wearing a helmet. The Military Police were called and managed to intercept the truck in Santa Izabel. The driver claimed not to have noticed the accident. He was sent to give a statement at the police station. "I believe he [the truck driver] did not even notice, because since it was a double trailer the accident occurred on the last truck," said Corporal Loureiro, from the Military Police (PM).One of the hypotheses raised is that the young man tried to overtake the van, or pass through the lane between the van and the truck. According to officer Miranda, from the Marituba Department of Traffic and Transportation (Setran), the young man did not have a driver's license. The black Honda Titan motorcycle, license plate QZN 3B95, was rented for delivery service. The renter had stopped to rest when the motorcycle was taken by the young man, without his consent. Relatives and friends of the victim were also at the scene to monitor the investigation. Despite the tragedy, the victim still had his cell phone stolen by an unknown man. The young man worked at a bakery in Marituba and would have turned 18 next month.Matheus Cristian, who was a friend of the victim, was with the boy last Sunday (18), at a beach resort with a group of people. “He was a very humble person. A jokester. Last Sunday, we were at a beach resort and he was sending messages to everyone through the sound system. He worked as a baker here in Marituba. His family was from Maranhão, and came to live here at an uncle’s house,” he said emotionally.

Marituba resident Daniel Martins witnessed the accident. According to him, serious accidents in the area are not uncommon. "I thought it was a person crossing, but then I saw that it was the motorcyclist. It's quite common for accidents to happen in this area. That B-train has a blind spot and he ran over the motorcycle, he probably didn't even notice," the witness believes.Agents from the Department of Traffic (Detran) and the Scientific Expertise Department were also in the area. Traffic on the BR-316 was partially interrupted during the operation. The accident will be investigated by the Marituba Precinct. The drivers of the van, the truck and the owner of the motorcycle were sent to give statements at the police station.
