A man tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol into a petrol pump in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. The deceased is Shanavas, aged 43, from Kattungchira. He died this morning while undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College. It is suggested that the reason for the suicide was a family dispute.

The incident occurred at the petrol pump opposite Iringalakuda Marina Hospital at around 8pm last night. Shahnawas arrived at the petrol pump and asked for petrol in a bottle. But the pump attendants did not provide gasoline in a bottle, so he bought gasoline in Kansas, poured it on his body and set it on fire with a lighter he kept in his pocket.
