in Nu’uanu, a neighborhood in Honolulu, a South African man trespassed a woman’s house at night. She called the police and was afraid. When 3 officers arrived to the scene, they told the man to get on the ground. They had sirens and lights on when they arrived, so it was obvious they were the police. Suddenly, the man starts attacking the officers. After following procedure and yelling taser warnings several times, and using the taser (ineffectively), one of the officers fires 3 shots, which end up killing the man. Apparently he was Zulu, and in his culture it is alright to venture to other people’s properties. But the argument is that he was a rugby player who regularly travelled, so he should’ve known by that time that trespassing is not acceptable in Hawaii, as like any other state. As far as I know, there is no rebound protest for this since the shooting was justified in most people’s opinions.
