Manhattan, NY - Police are looking for the man they say assaulted a 72-year-old man in the West Village, punching the victim in the head as he walked down the street in what appears to be a random attack.

The man was walking down Jane Street at about 5:30 p.m. Monday when he was hit, police say.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows the attacker standing still and facing the street as the 72-year-old approaches. As the victim walks by, the suspect swings at the man, knocking him to the ground.

The attacker then runs across the street, where police say a second

person was waiting.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with cuts and head pain. Police say the suspect and the man standing across the street are both in their 20s.
