An 86-year-old woman was killed after being run over by a public transport bus on Friday morning (5) in Uberlândia . The information is from the Fire Department and the victim's death was confirmed at the scene.

The incident was reported on Avenida Cesário Crosara, near Praça João Jorge Cury, in the Presidente Roosevelt neighborhood. According to the Fire Department, the victim was dragged for approximately 50 meters.

Firefighters reported that the bus was initially stopped to allow passengers to board when the elderly woman tried to cross the street. "The driver did not see the elderly woman when he started moving again, resulting in the accident."

In a statement, the São Miguel bus company regretted the incident and reported that it is closely monitoring the case, that the insurance company has been contacted and that it will provide support to the family and the driver.
