One of the participants in the finals of the Russian Cup in parachuting, which takes place on the basis of the Russian University of Special Forces in Chechnya, crashed during the jump. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Goodsky air training center.“During the final of the Russian Cup in parachuting in the discipline “Canopy Piloting,” an accident occurred. An experienced parachutist, Master of Sports of Russia Dmitry Belyaev, born in 1978, who had more than 3,700 parachute jumps, died. The tragedy occurred during the piloting stage high-speed parachute," the press service noted.Reportedly, during the landing approach, the parachutist made a mistake and did not calculate the height of the maneuver, which is why he collided with the water surface at an increased vertical speed.“There were rescue services at the site, including a mobile disaster medicine unit. Medical workers fought for Dmitry’s life from the first minutes of the collision, resuscitation measures were carried out on the spot. Doctors were unable to save the athlete’s life,” the press service noted.International competitions and the final stage of the Russian Cup in parachuting are held in Chechnya from October 1 to 8 at the Russian Special Forces University. About 100 athletes from Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan take part in them.
