On the afternoon of April 8, 2021, after opening fire on his warehouse coworkers at Kent Moore Cabinets in Bryan, Bollin's violence continued in Grimes County when he shot at Texas DPS Trooper Juan Tovar's head outside the Bollin family home in Iola.

The now Sergeant Tovar testified earlier this month in a Brazos County court during Bollin's murder trial against Tim Smith. During his testimony that Tuesday, he showed how Bollin's shot left him blind in his left eye. In Friday's testimony that week, he told the jury how his 10-year-old son likes to stay on his dad's left side to keep a watchful eye out for him and protect him.

Last Friday, Bollin entered a plea deal with Grimes and Brazos counties, pleading guilty to the attempted capital murder of a peace officer in Grimes County. Continuing to uphold his end of the agreement this Thursday, Bollin once again pleaded to attempted capital murder of his five surviving victims in Brazos County. One victim had upwards of 30 surgeries to correct the injuries inflicted by Bollin.

Bollin was escorted into the courtroom on Thursday in an orange jumpsuit as he entered his guilty plea.

District Attorney and Prosecutor Jarvis Parsons told KBTX, "After [Bollin] pled to his life sentence in Grimes County and got a life sentence from the Brazos County jury, we made sure that he pled guilty and was sentenced to life in prison for Nathan Whitehead, Juan Uribe, Juan Ordonez, and Isidoro Leal, as well as Walter Reyes Vega."

"The maximum he could have gotten on the five aggravated assaults was 20 years apiece. On this one, we merged those all into the attempted capital murder charge so that got him the life sentence," explained Parsons.

Bollin will serve the three life sentences at the same time, and waived his right to appeal, as part of the agreement.

"If the defendant had not taken a plea deal, then [Grimes County] would have gone through their trial and used all of our stuff in their punishment case, along with Trooper Tovar's case. We believe that he would have gotten a lengthy sentence, and they could have asked the judge, at that point in time, to stack the punishment on top of each other so that they run consecutive," Parsons said.

This case took years to get to the trial and punishment phases but Parsons said he remained hopeful the ordeal would bring the victims and their loved ones some closure.

"These individuals bared their souls, and it's hard in front of 12 strangers to do that. But they trusted us, and they trusted the process, and the process worked. I think that's the thing I'm most proud of, and why I love being a prosecutor is because we can be sincere about what we're saying, and trust in the 12 citizens from Brazos County to make the right call, and and they did," emphasized Parsons.

In light of the devastation of April 8, 2021, the defense attorney acknowledged a lot of 'acts of love and humanity' that day that shouldn't be forgotten.

"Many people think about the case, about [the] evil, and all those things are true," he added. "From my perspective, it was the love that was shown in times of crisis from the everyday individuals. When evil acts, we have to respond [with] love and sometimes that love protects, and I think that verdict was a verdict of protection of our community."
