One of those involved in the execution of young Wellen Karine Soares Silva died after exchanging gunfire with police this Monday (15/2). The incident was recorded on Rua Augusto Lopes, in the Cidade Jardins neighborhood, in Barra do Choça, 506 km from Salvador.

According to the police, the unit's teams were patrolling the area when they received an anonymous tip that two men were brandishing firearms on the streets. Upon locating them, the officers were met with gunfire, leading to a confrontation. Both suspects were injured and did not survive. One of them was identified as Micael Ferreira Bittencourt, 19 years old.

Two .38 caliber revolvers were seized from him; a tablet and 155 packets of marijuana and two vehicles with theft restrictions, a car and a motorcycle. The material was presented to the local police station.

According to the Civil Police, Bittencourt was identified by investigators from the Homicide Division (DH/Vitória da Conquista) as the perpetrator of the death of Wellen Karine. The motorcycle seized during the operation in Barra do Choça is the same one used on the day of the crime.

THE CRIME

Wellen Karine Soares Silva, 22 years old, was murdered at the door of a church, in the São Vicente neighborhood, in Vitória da Conquista on the afternoon of January 31st. The crime was filmed by the perpetrators themselves.

In the video, the pair of armed men appear on a motorcycle. At one point, they encounter the victim, who was walking calmly on Olavo Bilac Street. As they approach, one of them gets off the motorcycle and starts shooting. There were at least 15 shots.

The victim tried to run, but was unable to escape. After the crime, the pair fled the scene.
