Moments of anguish were experienced this morning in the Colombian Fertilizers sector, in Barrancabermeja, after a motorcyclist driving a vehicle with a license plate FKR-85A, crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the road.

The causes of the accident are the subject of investigation by the traffic authorities, but, apparently, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, which caused him a strong head trauma that left him unconscious.

“The boy was seriously ill there on the motorcycle. It was a strong blow, we believe that he was going very fast, he did not keep his distance and he hit the parked tractor-trailer from behind. We immediately called the fire brigade," a witness said.

The Barrancabermeja Volunteer Fire Department transferred him to a care center. The presence of a relative was expected to find out his identity since at the time of the accident he did not carry documents.

"He is as an unidentified person and we are waiting for his relatives to appear, he was admitted in a very delicate state," the firefighters said.

In recent weeks, the Barrancabermeja Traffic Directorate has intensified campaigns for motorcyclists and their passengers to use the regulatory helmets.

“The first thing that falls to the asphalt or hits a fixed object is our head. That is why the call to use a regulatory helmet that can save lives”, indicated Tránsito de Barrancabermeja.
