Man dies from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head after a Texas officer shoots him 15 times during a foot chase for jaywalking.

Jeffrey Schopp, 33, died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

Officer James Lopez stopped Schopp for jaywalking at Loop 410 and Jones Maltsberger Road on December 3.

Schopp dropped his backpack and fled into a parking garage before being cornered in a drainage ditch.

He then ran under a bridge and apparently pulled out a gun

Lopez fired 12 shots, yelling, "He has a f***ing gun!"

After reloading, Lopez fired three more shots, and Schopp was seen falling to the ground.

Another officer shouted, "Drop the gun," but did not fire their weapon.

The San Antonio Police Department stated Lopez feared for the safety of nearby officers when he fired.

Lopez, a four-year member of the San Antonio police force, has been placed on paid administrative leave.
