Newly released surveillance video shows a bicyclist being violently attacked and stabbed multiple times by a group of men who had chased him down on an El Monte street.

The 36-year-old victim was riding his bike last Monday when someone from a passing vehicle began yelling at him. Police say several people got out of the car after it pulled a U-turn and began punching, kicking and stabbing him repeatedly.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries. El Monte police released the video Wednesday amid the search for five men wanted in connection with the assault.
