The rickshaw driver died after being crushed by the wheels of the truck

rickshaw driver named Sujan Mia (32) died after being hit by a truck in Sreepur, Gazipur.

The accident took place in front of the Mauna Fire Service Station on the Mauna Kaliakair road of the upazila on Thursday (April 25) morning.

Deceased Sujan Mia (32) is the son of Zainal Mia of Kwa Paschim Khand Karitala area of Sreepur Municipality. He earned his livelihood by driving rickshaws.

Citing relatives of the deceased and eyewitnesses, Deputy Inspector (SI) of Sreepur police station Helal Uddin said that Sujan Mia took a rickshaw out on Thursday morning like every day. He was going to Mauna Bazar from the intersection with a female passenger . A Kaliakoi-bound truck rammed in front of Sujan's rickshaw while taking a u-turn to the north after reaching the fire service station on the Mauna-Kaliakoir road. When Sujan fell on the road, he was crushed by the wheels of the truck.

Sujan Mia died on the spot. At that time, the passenger sitting in the rickshaw was completely healthy. According to locals, the truck and the driver were detained by the crowd. But the truck was found at the spot but the driver was not found.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sripur Model Police Station Akbar Ali Khan told Jayzadeen, "The police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. The body has been recovered and a report has been prepared. In view of the request of the relatives of the deceased, further legal action is underway in this matter."
