SEASIDE, Calif. —

Investigators say that one person was shot by police after a confrontation that occurred at Fremont and Playa, Monday morning.

Investigators close to the case say that the person was firing projectiles at police from a slingshot before police shot them. It is unclear how many times he was shot at.

Seaside Police Chief Nick Borges said two of his officers were hit by projectiles and one of his officers then returned fire and struck the person. The three people hurt were taken to the hospital and all three are expected to be okay, per Borges.

Our reporter on the scene says they saw law enforcement from Pacific Grove, Monterey, Del Rey Oaks and Seaside.

The Monterey County District Attorney's Office has been asked to take over and investigate the case.
