In an alarming incident that occurred early Thursday morning, an extortionist was seriously injured when he accidentally detonated dynamite in Los Cocos passage, in Independencia, a district that is in a state of emergency .

The explosive, which he apparently planned to use against a local business, exploded in his hands and caused material damage to nearby homes, according to the Buenos días Perú program on Panamericana Televisión .

Security cameras captured the moment when the man was walking through the passage with the device in his hands. According to the National Police of Peru (PNP), the explosive was dynamite , although the exact fate of the suspect is still unknown. The images show how the device suddenly explodes, leaving the young man lying on the ground.

Despite his injuries, he managed to reach his home, located approximately three blocks from the scene, where his relatives tried to take him to a hospital.
