A brutal case that, by all indications, is a case of femicide, is being investigated by the Civil Police of Capela de Santana this Sunday (15). According to evidence collected by agents from the Police Station of the neighboring city, a man murdered his partner by setting fire to the car and then attempted to take his own life. Initially, what the police identified was that both were residents of Portão, near the border with São Leopoldo. There was a history of domestic violence in the couple's relationship. The bodies and the charred car were found by the Military Police after reports from locals, shortly after 6 am, on Avenida Coronel Orestes Lucas, Sanga Funda, in the region of the border between Capela and Portão, on a stretch of road that was paved a few months ago. The police chief responsible for the Capela Police Station, Fábio Mota Lopes, told ACONTECE that the man was identified as Sidnei Laerte de Moura, 48 years old, a resident of Portão. The car is a white Gol, 1996, registered in São Sebastião do Caí and registered in the name of a woman who, by all indications, is Sidnei's partner. The couple had a four-year-old child with them. The official identification of the victim has not yet been confirmed by the Civil Police, since the body was completely charred inside the Gol, but officers are in contact with the family this afternoon. Sidnei's body was found about 300 meters from the burned car, in circumstances that point to suicide.
