Passengers and passersby at the Gualaquiza Bus Terminal in the province of Morona Santiago experienced moments of terror when a man began threatening them with a knife.Police rushed to the scene and, upon arrival, observed that the individual, later identified as Edgar Eduardo Mora Mora , 23 years old and Venezuelan national, had a knife in his hand. Upon noticing the presence of the officers, Mora Jurado took a minor hostage , further unleashing panic among those present.After several minutes of tension, the boy was released, although the subject continued to have the knife in his possession. The agents, in an attempt to peacefully disarm him, repeatedly ordered him to lower the weapon, but he ignored them. Pepper spray was necessary to try to neutralize him, however, Mora Jurado responded violently and launched himself at the police.People passing through the terminal witnessed the incident.People passing through the terminal witnessed the incident.Faced with the imminent threat to his life and that of his colleagues, one of the uniformed officers drew his service weapon and shot the attacker, fatally wounding him in the abdomen. Mora Jurado died instantly.Agents from the Dinased of Macas arrived at the scene of the incident and verified that the body had a nine-millimeter bullet wound. Marijuana was found in one of the deceased's pockets, and the police officer's weapon was confiscated for the corresponding investigations.
