A 36-year-old man has died following an officer-involved shooting in Pasadena.

The incident unfolded just before 8:40 p.m. Saturday as officers encountered a parked car that was facing in the wrong direction on a one-way street on Hudson Avenue near Del Mar Boulevard.

Police said while they were speaking to the suspect he suddenly sped off and narrowly missed an officer with his vehicle, initiating what was a brief pursuit that came to a violent end when he drove into the front yard of a home, slamming into the family's Tesla sitting in the driveway.

"It was super scary and just out of nowhere," said John Kelleher, whose house the man crashed into. "The kind of thing that feels fake when it happens."

Kelleher said he was inside of his home watching TV when he heard the screeching and loud bang from his front yard.

"I could see, like, the wrath of God had descended on the area," he said. "Then there were choppers very quickly and any number of police units were out here."

After the crash, the suspect, who has been identified as 36-year-old Ricardo Guade Andrade of San Fernando, ran on foot.

Police say that he was able to forcibly make his way into two homes in the area before he was spotted from above by one of their helicopters while in the backyard of a Oak Knoll Circle residence.

They allege that he refused to drop a gun when he was confronted by officers, including a K9.

"The suspect refused to comply with orders to drop the handgun and an officer-involved shooting occurred. As a result of the shooting, the suspect sustained gunshot wounds," police said in a news release.

The suspect was taken to a hospital where he died.

No officers were hurt and a handgun was found at the scene.
