A new armed attack occurred between the night of April 20 and the early hours of April 21, 2026, in southwest Guayaquil, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The incident took place at the intersection of Gómez Rendón and Octava streets, where several people had gathered outside a residence for a funeral.

According to preliminary reports, those present were mourning a victim of a previous shooting that occurred on April 19 in the same area. Suddenly, a vehicle arrived at the scene and its occupants opened fire indiscriminately on the crowd. One of the attackers even exited the car to continue shooting before fleeing.

As a result of the attack, one person died at the scene while two others were wounded. Authorities recovered multiple ballistic casings at the site. So far, it has not been confirmed whether this attack is directly linked to the earlier incident in the area.
