Evans suffered a broken leg and other injuries during a confrontation with police on October 24, 2024, at his home in South San Diego.

Police responded to a report of a man with a gun entering a home on Duluth Avenue near Encanto.

Officers ordered residents to evacuate. Four people emerged with their hands up.

Evans was not charged, but was hospitalized for his injuries.
