The spokesman for the Municipal Departmental Firefighters, Mario Upun, reported that in San Lorenzo, San Andrés Itzapa , Chimaltenango, a person under the influence of alcohol fired into the air and neighbors called the National Civil Police (PNC) to arrest him, however they were received with gunfire.

Inspector Edwin Monroy, spokesman for the PNC, explained that the police officers were in a patrol car to verify the address where a person was causing a disturbance in public.

Monroy said that one of the police officers was wounded on the left side of the skull and another on the right side of the chest.

Given the injuries reported, Monroy said the clinical picture of one of them is reserved .
