At 9:27PM on October 7, 2020, on Kalinin Street in the Kirovsky district of Saint Petersburg, Russia, a dashcam recorded a fatal accident with a truck and its trailer. A 30-year-old driver and his female passenger were in a Volkswagen Jetta heading home near the Ulitsa Trefoleva (transit station). They did not know what would be coming for them. A driver of a Renault Magnum truck was driving while drunk in Saint Petersburg, and eventually approached a curved road too fast. The driver of the Volkswagen attempted to avoid the collision, but the sliding trailer of the Magnum was too fast and unavoidable, and the inevitable crash occurred. According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the 30-year-old driver was hospital with serious injuries, while his passenger was unfortunately killed. The cowardly truck driver left the accident scene. However, the truck was later found on Scottish Street based on an identification of a leaf spring that had fallen off the truck. The driver was then detained, and charged with a violation of traffic rules and the operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of a person by negligence.
