A man suffered serious injuries in a hammer attack in broad daylight Sparkhill. Police are appealing for information following the horrific incident last week.West Midlands Police said a man, aged in his 20s, was assaulted with a hammer, on Stratford Road, near to College Road. It happened at around 2pm on Wednesday, February 21.The man was taken to hospital. Now officers want to speak to anyone who was on Stratford Road, between Springfield Road and Shaftmoor Lane around the time of the attack or anyone driving through who may have dashcam footage.No arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing. The incident comes after a Conservative MP claimed that Sparkhill has become a "no go area." Paul Scully, a former minister and MP for Sutton and Cheam, made the comment during a discussion about whether his political party is 'Islamaphobic', which has led to a backlash.In a statement, police said: "We are appealing for information after a man was assaulted with a hammer in Sparkhill. It happened on Stratford Road, near to College Road, at around 2pm on Wednesday 21st February. A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries."We are asking anyone to come forward with information which may help our enquiries. We are especially keen to speak to anyone who was on Stratford Road, between Springfield Road and Shaftmoor Lane around the time of the attack, or who was driving through the area and has dash cam footage.
