Surveillance video has shown an e-bike jumping a red light and crossing an intersection on a rainy day in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, East China. The e-bike rider was knocked over side-on by a bus, leaving him badly injured and requiring hospital treatment.

E-bikes are a popular mode of transport in Chinese cities, but bans have recently been announced in the city of Shenzhen and along some streets in the capital Beijing. The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau said that last year 113 people died and 21,423 were injured in 31,404 traffic accidents caused by electric bikes in the city.
