ORTLAND, Ore. -- A surveillance video obtained by KATU News shows a Good Samaritan trying to scare away a robber at a Northeast Portland Subway.

The robbery was reported around 8:30 p.m. Sunday along NE Sandy Boulevard.

KATU spoke with a Good Samaritan who was inside the store at the time. He said he saw the suspect empty the register, walked behind him and punched him, thinking it would knock him out.

The fight continued to the front door of the store, where the suspect was able to get away.

The Good Samaritan was able to recover about $40 from the robber.

The suspect is described as a man about 25 years old with blonde hair. If you recognize him, call police.
