This is the terrifying moment a paraglider plunges to the ground in a dangerous free fall after his chute failed mid-air.

The video, captured in Kossen, Austria on June 14, shows the man's reserve chute getting tangled up with the glider, causing the craft to spiral rapidly downwards.

The glider can be heard screaming as he hurtles down to earth while desperately trying to free himself.

Fortunately, a tree softens his landing, and he falls to the ground shaken but relatively unharmed.

According to the man who filmed the video, he spent the next 6 days in hospital but no surgery was required. Do not try this at home!' he wrote online.
