Vero Beach, Florida. - An Indian River County cruiser's dash cam captured a deputy rescuing a man from a burning vehicle after a wreck in Vero Beach.

Upon arrival, the deputy wasn't sure if anyone was in the vehicle, but quickly pulled the man out once he opened the door -- likely saving his life.

The driver received treatment at Orlando Burn Center after a helicopter transported him from the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

"Our deputies put their lives on the line every day," said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar. "In the past six months, our dash cameras have caught one of our deputies being shot and returning fire, our deputies pulling a woman from her burning vehicle, last night's rescue of a man from his burning car, and many more heroics that do not get national attention.

Our deputies are to be commended for their daily efforts to protect and serve the citizens of Indian River County."
