A tragic incident occurred in the Kampung Arab area, Gang Ibu, Pasar Lama Subdistrict, Central Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah, Tuesday (26/5/2026). A resident named Zulfikar (53) alias Opek died after being dragged by a sacrificial cow which suddenly went berserk during the moving process. Residents ran out of their homes after the sacrificial cow suddenly got loose and ran wild in the middle of the densely populated settlement.

As reported by TribunBanjarmasin , Wednesday (27/5/2026), the incident began when a number of residents tried to move the sacrificial cow to another place. However, since the animal was first taken out of the pickup truck, it was said that it had shown aggressive behavior. Rahmat, a local resident, said that the cow had been difficult to control since it first arrived at the location.

Victim Dragged by Cow During the transfer, the victim was holding onto the cow's rope. The situation escalated when the animal suddenly galloped, dragging the victim's body along. The victim's hands were still wrapped in rope so he couldn't free himself as the cow continued to run. "The victim was dragged quite far, about 50 meters," he said. As his body was being dragged, the victim allegedly struck another cow that had previously been secured by residents. The force of the impact sent the victim flying and falling unconscious. Residents around the location immediately panicked and tried to provide assistance.

Despite receiving treatment, Opek's life could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at around 8:00 PM WITA.
