The incident occurred in Block B of Afyonkarahisar State Hospital. Derya Kozan, who worked in the hospital canteen, encountered Mustafa Akbuğa, with whom she had previously worked at another workplace, in the corridor. After a brief argument, Mustafa Akbuğa fired repeatedly at Derya Kozan with a gun he had on him. Struck by the bullets, Kozan collapsed to the ground, while those nearby fled in panic and fear. Akbuğa then turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger.

While Derya Kozan died at the scene, the injured suspect, Mustafa Akbuğa, was taken into intensive care. However, he also succumbed to his injuries today.

It is alleged that Akbuğa had a romantic relationship with Kozan, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
