Ciudad del Este, Paraguay

A private security officer was murdered inside a service station during a violent assault reported on Friday night in Ciudad del Este (Alto Paraná). The victim was identified as Derlis Ariel Delvalle, 23 years old, who tried to defend himself from his attackers but was fatally shot.

According to preliminary data from the National Police, there were two assailants who arrived on a motorcycle to the gas station located in the San Miguel neighborhood of the aforementioned city. Apparently the criminals were handed erroneous information, since the fuel dispenser does not operate at night and only the guard remains on the premises.

The neighbors helped the injured man who was transferred to the Ciudad del Este regional hospital, although it was confirmed that his death occurred on the way to the healthcare center.

“He was a security guard at a service station located in the San Miguel neighborhood, the place no longer opens at night. And he was assaulted and received a gunshot at head height. He was wearing a bulletproof vest but the shot was at head height, he was 23 years old,” prosecutor Diana Gómez confirmed to the media.

The residents of the neighborhood mourned the death of the young worker and condemned the rise of insecurity in the city. They stated that the custodian was not only attentive to protecting his job, but was also concerned about the safety of the local families.
