The culprit of the accident was the driver of the bus, according to surviving passengers. Despite it being foggy, and hearing the warning signal, he apparently decided to try and beat the train. Investigators are yet to confirm this version of events.

A total of 5 passengers were killed and 13 were injured. The driver, along with a further 11 passengers escaped unharmed.
