Just before 6 am on March 24th, police were told of a reckless driver that was spotted at the Circle K on Court St. in Pasco. Arriving officer Phil Hanks arrived and was shot while approaching the reckless driver in his vehicle. Pasco Police Chief Ken Roske calling it an ambush in the accompanying opening statement.The video shows Officer Hanks pull into the Circle K where he stopped in front of the white BMW driven by 38-year-old David Ramos Galvez, later identified by police. Officer Hanks walks around the back of his vehicle and approached white sedan. Galvez fires nearly a dozen shots before driving off hitting Officer Hanks, who falls to the ground almost immediately, alerting dispatch to his injuries. Hanks was tended to by witnesses and medics as Tri-Cities law enforcement responded in force. According to the critical incident update posted by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, police pursed the suspect until road 64 and Argent in Pasco where Galvez is blocked in by a Benton County Deputy. Video shows Galvez pull out a rifle, and point it at the deputy who blocked him in. The deputy fired some 16 shots at Galvez, hitting him multiple times. The sheriff's office update says Police performed first aid on Galvez after the gunfire stops and medics transported him to the hospital.
