Reports of two people clinging to trees in the middle of the rain-swollen Los Angeles River brought a firefighter swift water rescue team to the Atwater Village area Friday morning.

One person was located and transported to a hospital in fair condition. Nearly two hours after rescuers were first called to the scene at 9:41 a.m., the search was continuing for a second person, according to Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Search Continues for 2nd Person.
