Providence police said Tuesday that officers broke up a large disturbance in Kennedy Plaza that involved about 300 students.

Col. Oscar Perez said a fight started and it grew into multiple fights, requiring more officers at the scene.

Several people were arrested, and one minor injury was reported. Police said no weapons were involved.

"Providence Police already on scene responded quickly, dispersed students and worked to get them on the proper buses home, whenever possible. There were five juveniles arrested for a variety of charges related to the incident. An additional two adults were arrested for disorderly conduct," Socarras said.

Providence Police confirmed all seven arrested are facing charges for disorderly conduct.
