A person driving a lorry under the influence of alcohol rammed into an old man who was walking on the road and he tragically died on the spot.

A sewage disposal truck ran erratically from Puliyakulam, Coimbatore towards Sauripalayam this morning. Then it hit a car standing on the road near Puliyakulam Vinayagar Temple. He also died on the spot when he collided with an old man who was walking on the road.

Two people were injured in the accident and were admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Citizens and police chased the sewage disposal truck for 4 kilometers and caught it.

Investigation revealed that the driver was Praveen Kumar from Ramanathapuram and was under the influence of alcohol earlier in the morning.

Following this, Kattur Traffic Investigation Division police registered a case against Praveen Kumar and arrested him.

The accident caused by the lorry was recorded in the surveillance camera installed there.
