Another police officer was killed in Cali, authorities in that city confirmed. The officer was a sub-inspector who was attacked by a hitman in a public street.

The events occurred on the night of Thursday, October 16, 2024, in the El Vallado neighborhood, located in the east of the capital of Valle del Cauca.

The deputy chief of the Cali Metropolitan Police, identified as Jhon Anderson Orobio Perea, was partying with friends and family in the Aguablanca district when the attack occurred.

An armed man approached the group and shot directly at the police officer, who was in plain clothes. According to details revealed by local media, Deputy Superintendent Orobio received several bullet wounds in the back, head and neck.

According to information from the newspaper El Tiempo , the man was playing cards in an establishment open to the public when he was attacked from behind.
